The Center for Esophageal Disease and Swallowing (CEDAS) at UNC consists of physicians and advanced practice providers with extensive clinical and research experiences in all facets of esophageal pathology. Relevant clinical conditions treated by the Center include but are not limited to Barrett’s esophagus, eosinophilic esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal motility disorders, and complex esophageal strictures. In addition to the Center’s clinical pursuits, most of our physicians completed formal research training in clinical epidemiology, as well as translational research and clinical trial design. Our physicians lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, developed and tested new endoscopic methods for the treatment of esophageal disease, are actively involved with development of novel therapeutics for esophageal conditions, and wrote the current national guidelines for the management of Barrett’s esophagus and eosinophilic esophagitis.
