(Photo by Chris Polydoroff)The UNC Multidisciplinary IBD Center coordinates the clinical care by adults and pediatric gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists and pathologists, who specialize in IBD. The mission of our center is to provide state of the art clinical care for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis by providing access to highly trained experts in IBD management, offering novel treatments through clinical trials and delivering latest IBD related information through education. Goal of this care is to improve the quality of life of IBD patients. We also perform basic research in the areas of genetics, inflammatory mediators and host-microbiome interactions to broaden the current knowledge of the pathogenesis of IBD and to contribute to the ultimate goal of a cure for these conditions.
