van Aalst Featured on ABC NewsDecember 2, 2011 -- Dr. John van Aalst was featured on an ABC News item covering the story of infant Adam Paulraj, who suffers from severe birth defects. John van Aalst, MD Two-and-a-half month-old Adam was born in India with Bartsocas-Papas syndrome, a rare condition characterized by cleft palate, fusing of bones in the hands and feet, and other various abnormalities. Abandoned by his biological parents, he was adopted by newlyweds Jessica and Raja Paulraj. While doctors in India gave the family little hope, they have found encouragement and support in the form Dr. van Aalst, Associate Professor with the UNC Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. |
