Medical Director of UNC HHT Center
Dr. Raj Kasthuri
Dr. Raj Kasthuri is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology and is the Director of the UNC HHT Center of Excellence. Dr. Kasthuri earned his medical degree from the Kasturba Medical College in India. He completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the UNC Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center and the UNC McAllister Heart Institute. Dr. Kasthuri's clinical and research interests are in bleeding and clotting disorders, and HHT.
Karen Smith, RN
Ms Smith is currently the Program Coordinator as well as the Clinical Research Coordinator for the HHT Center of Excellence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has over 20 years of professional experience including Critical Care Supervisor and Clinical Educator, Emergency Trauma, Vascular Surgery and Wound Care Nursing, as well as Radiology/Interventional Nursing Clinical Educator.
Ofri Leitner, MS, CGC
Ms Leitner is a certified genetic counselor and clinical assistant professor of genetics at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She primarily sees patients through the Adult and Cancer Genetics Program. Ms Leitner counsels individuals at increased risk of hereditary conditions at a variety of clinics at UNC, including our HHT Center of Excellence as well as hereditary cancer, and neuromuscular clinics.
