Welcome!

**THE FIRST IDIG MEETING IS SET FOR SEPTEMBER 11th FROM 12-1PM IN MBRB 2204.  Hope to see you there!!!**

The purpose of the Infectious Disease Interest Group (IDIG) is to stimulate student interest in the field of infectious disease (ID). The group will establish a mentorship program by pairing each interested student with an  ID faculty member.  The goal of this program is to foster student academic and career exploration in ID and to facilitate shadowing opportunities. IDIG will also offer monthly activities, including but not limited to:

(1) lunchtime talks by faculty in the field,

(2) events to facilitate continued engagement between mentor-mentee pairs,

(3) networking events with faculty in ID, other School of Medicine departments, and the School of Public Health, and

(4) workshops to simulate ID cases.

Additionally, IDIG will encourage and organize volunteer opportunities and fundraising support for local ID-oriented advocacy groups such as the N.C. Alliance for AIDS Services. IDIG will collaborate with the UNC Infectious Diseases Clinic around the holidays to bring gifts to needy families.

We look forward to working with you!

Erin, Kristine and Susan
