“HCV/HIV in the Correctional System”

CFID and IGHID co-sponsor a weekly conference series featuring distinguished clinicians and scientists from UNC, local universities and other national and international institutions. The topics are varied and appeal to not only infectious disease specialists, but also professionals in epidemiology, public health, microbiology, biostatistics and other global health-related disciplines.

Dr. Anne Spaulding is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at RSPH and has a joint appointment in the Division of Infectious Disease in the School of Medicine. She entered the field of correctional health in 1996 when she was appointed the medical program director for the RI Department of Corrections, a combined jail and prison. Her specific interests are infectious and chronic disease epidemiology in correctional and drug-using populations. Current projects include leading a national evaluation and support center for jails instituting rapid HIV testing and conducting a study of issues facing the HIV infected inmate returning to the community after serving time in Georgia state prisons. Her clinical work focuses on treating HCV and HIV infected incarcerated women.
