Groesbeck Parham, MD, will deliver OB-GYN Grand Rounds on Thursday, Jan. 30 with a talk titled, “Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment in Zambia.” Dr. Parham is professor of gynecologic oncology in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the UNC School of Medicine.
Based full-time in Lusaka, Zambia, he is also co-director of the Cervical Cancer Prevention Program at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia and the African Centre for Excellence for Women’s Cancer Control. The center, founded in July 2012, developed out of the CIDRZ cervical cancer program, which aims to tackle the heavy burden of cervical cancer in Zambia and the region.
The African Centre of Excellence for Women’s Cancer Control is a Ministry of Health-led initiative and is a collaboration between Zambia’s University Teaching Hospital, CIDRZ, the Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon Partnership and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
