Global Programs

International projects and programs have been integral to CFID's research and training activities for many years, and global health in general is a recognized strength at UNC. The University has made globalization one of its highest priorities, and in 2007 established the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID) to bolster global health efforts across the health affairs schools and complement the globalization of the main campus. The Center is a constituent body of IGHID.

Breakthrough of the Year!

The HIV Prevention Trials Network 052 study, led by center director Myron S. Cohen, M.D., has been named the 2011 Breakthrough of the Year by the journal Science.
