Our division has a very active and diverse portfolio of domestic and international infectious disease research.
Research is focused on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, malaria and other vector-borne diseases, tuberculosis, influenza, biodefense and emerging pathogens, and hospital infection control. UNC ranks in the top 10 of the nation's HIV/AIDS programs.
UNC is home to:
- Zika research
- Global HIV Prevention and Treatment Clinical Trials Unit
- Center for AIDS Research
- The largest AIDS cure initiative in the country (CARE)
- Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology and Ecology Lab
- The Behavior and Technology or BAT Lab at UNC
