Science of Medicine Selective

The goal of the Science of Medicine Selective is to re-emphasize the basic sciences in the senior year of medical school. We have done a good job of moving clinical medicine into the early years of medical school, but haven’t been as successful in emphasizing a lot of what was learned in the first two years once you enter the hospital. For the purposes of the Science of Medicine Selective, we have defined basic science broadly to include not only the traditional “basic sciences” such as biology, biochemistry and others, but have also included other basic disciplines such as population sciences, epidemiology, ethics, social medicine and others.
