Iris seeks creative submissions addressing illness, health, and healthcare from any person who is or has been a member of the UNC/Chapel Hill healthcare community. this community includes patients, their families, providers, faculty, staff, students, volunteers, researchers, and others. Selections will be chosen for their literary and artistic merit, their collective representation of as broad a cross-section of this comunity as possible , and their ability to stimulate creative reflection on health, illness, healing, and wellness. Submissions must be original and not previously published.
The submissions deadline for issue
number 7 is December 15, 2002
HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO
The recommended length for each prose submission is no more then 3000 words; for each poem, no more than 2 pages. Black and white photography is preferable. The editors will make exceptions to these guidelines under special circumstances.
For each written entry, submit 2 copies, one with your name attached and one without. If possible, please submit written entries on computer disk as well.

iris contributors retain copyright to their works, but iris copyrights each issue. Contributors should acknowledge previous publication in iris in all subsequent uses of the works that appear therein.
Any enrolled student at UNC at Chapel Hill is eligible to join iris. Traditionally, the staff has consisted primarily of students in the health professional schools including but not limited to The School of Medicine, The School of Nursing, The School of Dentistry and The School of Public Health.
