Research Interests
Molecular Pharmaceutics Dr. Hall's research for the past 15 years has focused primarily upon examining basic mechanisms of cellular and tissue uptake and bioactivation of prodrugs of aromatic dicationic compounds with potent antimicrobial activity, eukaryotic parasites and specific mechanisms of toxicity postulated for the dicationic compounds. The practical goal of his research has been the tropical parasitic diseases such as African sleeping sickness and visceral leishmaniasis. To that end, Dr. Hall has served as the Associate Director for Discovery for the Consortium for Parasitic Drug Development or CPDD located at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also serves as an ad hoc member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the consortium and leads the Pharmacology/Bioanalytical core of the research studies.
