Lake Weekend Trip
7th Annual MS1 Lake Weekend Trip
No experience necessary! Just bring your questions, good spirits, and desire to meet new people. (Plus you need a chance to enjoy a weekend at the lake one last time before summer's over!)
Date: August 2-4 – Leave early Friday afternoon, return later on Sunday morning & rest up for orientation on Monday.
Location: This year we will be staying on Lake Hyco at Drs. Craig & Amy Fowler's lake house - you can rough it if you want, or opt to sleep indoors in a bed... either way you'll definitely have a blast! We'll be swimming, tubing, jet skiing, biking, hiking, bonfires, and pretty much anything else you want to do...Students who went last year still talk about all the fun times they had and the friendships and memories they made!
Cost: More info. to come. Cost covers food, gas for the boat & waverunner, general trip expenses, etc. (If money is tight, we do have a few "grants" available on a case by case basis, so don't let the lack of $ keep you from coming--email us about your situation, and we'll see what we can do)
Overall, the camping trip is a great opportunity for you to meet other incoming MS1s, a group of friendly MS2s, and a few of our fantastic faculty! It’s great to start orientation already knowing lots of great folks in your class. We will meet in Chapel Hill and carpool to Lake Hyco. Some of the camping gear will even be provided (although you're definitely encouraged to bring your own if you have camping gear). Space is limited and is reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis; so sign up soon!
