Dean's Letter Process
The dean’s letter, officially called the Medical Student Performance Evaluation, is a description of a student’s accomplishments and academic record beginning with undergraduate education and continuing through medical school. The format for the letter is set by the AAMC. Students submit a CV and meet with the Student Affairs staff writer to review the draft of their dean’s letters for accuracy and completeness. Each student then meets for a career counseling session with one of the deans to ensure that the student is developing a good plan to match successfully.
