Application for Fall 2010

The UNC MD-PhD program welcomes applications from any students interested in a career in medicine and biomedical research. Our program supports students who are pursuing graduate degrees in traditional biomedical fields as well as graduate departments that are usually consider "non-traditional" for MD-PhD program (such as Public Health and Computer Science).

A list of graduate programs we currently work with are posted in our program overview section.

The MD-PhD program has the same academic and technical requirements as the MD program at UNC-CH.

To apply to the MD/PhD program, you must submit an application through the American College Medical School Application Service (AMCAS). The deadline for submission for the AMCAS application is October 15th, 2009.

Once the AMCAS application is received by our office, it is reviewed by the staff of the UNC MD-PhD program. Applicants who are considered competitive in our applicant pool will receive an invitation by email to submit a Supplemental Application to the program. (Supplemental material will not be available until July 15, 2009).  The deadline for the Supplemental Application is November 2, 2009.

UNC reviews all complete applications in December. Invitations for interviews are issued before the holiday season.

Applicants who are selected for interviews will visit UNC on one of two interview weekends held on January 23-25, 2010 and January 30-February 1, 2010. Transportation, lodging and food are provided by the program. Applicants arrive in Chapel Hill on Saturday afternoon, and spend the weekend interacting with current students and faculty members; learning about the program in a relaxed social environment. On Monday, formal interviews are held in conjunction with the medical school.
