Students are expected to:

  1. take responsibility for their own education (including reading extensively, attending conferences, and paticipating in patient care activities)
  2. interact in a professional and caring manner with patients, families, staff and colleagues
  3. be person-centered physicians-attentive to the ethical, economic, and political aspects of patient care, in addition to the biological and psychosocial aspects
  4. act non-judgmentally when dealing with patients with unhealthy behaviors, alternative lifestyles, or culturally diverse backgrounds
  5. assume as much responsibility as possible for the care of their patients
  6. communicate clearly and effectively with patients and colleagues
  7. practice evidence-based medicine
  8. think for themselves
