Need Men and Women with IBS and Chronic Functional Abdominal Pain

Description The purpose of this research study is to try to improve functional bowel disorder symptoms with a combination of Seroquel and anti-depressant medication. Seroquel is an FDA-approved medication that is currently on the market and used in the GI clinic.

Requirements
  • Men and women 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a history of a functional bowel disorder, diagnosed within the past 6 months
  • Must be on a stable dosage of an anti-depressant medication for at least the past 4 weeks
  • Seven (7) study visits at UNC Hospital over a 12-week period
  • Seroquel treatment once-a-day for 8 weeks
