How to Help

MEDworld Volunteer Sign-Up

Volunteer opportunities include the following: collection of donated supplies at UNC Hospitals, sorting donated medical equipment and supplies, inventory, and packing supplies for shipments in the warehouse, as well as helping in the areas of administration and fundraising.

Hospital Collections volunteers are required to go through UNC Hospitals Volunteer Services Office for specific training. All other volunteers receive training on-site at the warehouse.

To volunteer in MEDworld Collections at UNC Hospitals, go to the following site to get more information on the training requirements and an application:

We ask that volunteers commit to working with MEDworld for a minimum of one year. Volunteers are offered opportunities to shadow hospital physicians in clinical care.

Supplies commonly donated are gloves, gauze, wound supplies, syringes, Foleys, sutures, and hygienic supplies. Please refer to our flyer for a list of appropriate supplies.

Here's how and where you can drop off appropriate supplies.
