Beckman-Coulter (Dako) MoFlo XDP
The Dako MoFlo XDP is the latest generation MoFlo sorter. It retains the excellent MoFlo fluidics system but integrates this with a fully digital electronics configuration. The MoFlo XDP is equipped with 3 lasers to provide a number of useful excitation wavelengths. The primary laser is a Coherent/iCyt 200mW Sapphire diode-pumped solid-state laser. It is used for 488nm excitation. A Melles-Griot 35mW Helium-Neon laser producing 633nm is available for the red excitable fluorochromes. The third laser is a 25mW Coherent Radius solid state violet (408nm) laser. The MoFlo XDP has the same excellent cloning device as the MoFlo for depositing single (or multiple) cells into multi-well culture plates from 6 well to 384 well configuration. The MoFlo XDP can sort 1-4 populations simultaneously. Our current configuration provides for up to 10 fluorescence signals. The data is available as true 5 decade log data. The MoFlo XDP is capable of high-speed sorting - for small cells (e.g. lymphocytes) input speeds can be in excess of 25,000/sec. - for larger cells input speeds can be up to around 10,000/sec. Actual speed available depends not only on size but other factors.
