How to Request a Protein Sequence Analysis

Protein sequencing is performed using a Perkin Elmer/ABI Procise model 492 protein/peptide sequencer with automatic conversion of derivatized amino acids to the PTH form and on-line HPLC analysis. This instrument is capable of sequencing materials from glass fiber filters using polybrene to immobilize the sample or sequencing from PVDF type membranes using a specialized cartridge and modified sequencing programs. Current reproducible detection limits are 100-300 femtomoles of PTH amino acid.

To request a protein sequence analysis, please contact the UNC Microprotein Sequencing and Peptide Synthesis Facility. Samples need to be submitted physically along with your name and e-mail address. Results will be made available online.
