The goal of the Medical Mentors Program is simple: to bring medical students together with their undergraduate peers. By doing so, our hope is that medical students and pre-medical students will build relationships that supplement the undergraduate advising experience and relieve some of the stresses of choosing a career in medicine.
How it Works
MMP will work with the Carolina Pre-medical Association and the AED Pre-Health Honors Society to match interested undergrads with available medical students at the beginning of each academic year. After that, mentors and their mentees can choose exactly how they want to work together: from e-mail conversations to lunches to visiting medical school classes.
Meanwhile, MMP hosts events throughout the year to facilitate the mentoring relationships and give everyone in the program a chance to interact. Events will include informal lunch time gatherings, as well as opportunities to get a glimpse of medical student life.
