Preceptorships: Clinical One-on-One Training in HIV/STD Care
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill AIDS Training and Education Center (NCATEC) offers invaluable one-on-one experience in HIV/STD care to the licensed professional who is new to HIV/STD care, or who desires a skills update or refresher.
Individualized first-hand clinical experience is provided for:
- Physicians
- Nurse Practitioners/Nurses (RNs/LPNs)
- Physician Assistants
- Dentists
- Dental Hygienists
- Pharmacists
There is NO FEE for this training. Continuing education (Nursing) or CME credit can be awarded for this activity with prior approval as arranged through the NCATEC.
This experience is open to individuals in private practice, public clinics, and other settings who meet requirements and criteria maintained by the NCATEC and the precepting organization (licensure, PPD and other infectious disease screening).
Preceptorships will typically take place at UNC Memorial Hospital or the Durham County Health Department.
All rotation experiences must be arranged through NCATEC, with appropriate agreements between preceptor and learner set up in advance.
Participants may be eligible for reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses (food, mileage, lodging, etc.) in conjunction with participation in the preceptorship program.
