Community Outreach

In addition to our support of direct service health programs, members of the Bloomer Hill staff engage in community organizing as a means to better health in rural, eastern North Carolina. Current areas of work include: expanding list of resources available to community through local providers offices and health departments, educating community members on getting access to healthcare; and educating patients on public health measures to increase overall health of the community.

Additionally, students enrolled in MEDI 296, the Rural Health Elective, initiate projects that increase involvement in the community. In the past, these programs have included blood pressure screenings and health cooking workshops.
