The 2009 Pierre Morell Research Day in Neurobiology was held Friday, August 28, 2009. The speaker was Ben A. Barres M.D., Ph.D.
His research focuses on the interaction between neurons and glial cells in the nervous system and he is currently the Associate Chair of the Neurobiology Department at Stanford University School of Medicine. His seminar was at 12:00p.m. in MBRB Ground floor and over 200 faculty and students attended. The poster session was at 2:30pm MBRB Second floor.
The poster winners for 2009 were:
(Posters were judged in two categories: students in years 2 or 3; and students in years 4 and higher).
It was a tie for the first-place award for students in years 2 or 3. Chia Li (Mark Wightman's lab) and Thorfinn Riday (Ben Philpot's lab).
The second-place award for students in years 2 or 3 went to Elyse Dankoski (Mark Wightman's lab).
The first-place award for students in years 4 and higher went to Maile Henson (Ben Philpot's lab).
The second-place award for students in years 4 and higher went to Beth Cox (Joey Johns' lab).
