I completed my undergraduate studies at Southwest Minnesota State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006.


Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neuroinflammatory autoimmune disorder in which leukocytes transmigrate from the periphery across the vascular endothelium and glia limitans to disrupt proper neuronal function via the formation of demyelinated MS “lesions”. Chemokines, a family of chemotactic cytokines, facilitate this process of leukocyte recruitment and migration. Our goals are to determine changes in chemokine and chemokine receptor levels during early MS in/on various leukocyte subtypes, define roles for members of the chemokine family in IL-17-mediated monocyte chemotaxis and Th17 cell differentiation, evaluate potential localization patterns of chemokines in MS lesion subtypes, and search for correlations between clinical parameters and chemokine levels in CSF and blood.
