Leah Townsend

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011, receiving both a BS in psychology and a BA in philosophy. When I'm not in lab, I'm outside either rock climbing or in my garden.

My research interests center on understanding neural circuitry, especially how it develops and how that development is perturbed in neurodevelopmental disorders. My current work in Dr. Smith's lab utilizes intrinsic signal optical imaging (ISOI) to look at circuit development, though we plan on incorporating other techniques in the coming year.
