The UNC Neurobiology Curriculum presented its annual Pierre Morell Research Day 2014 on Friday, May 30, 2014. Our guest speaker this year was Dr. David Lovinger. Dr. Lovinger is a Senior Investigator and Chief of the Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience at the NIAAA. His research focuses on the modulation and plasticity of synaptic transmission at corticostriatal synapses and the mechanisms by which abused substances effect synaptic transmission. A schedule for the events that took place is listed as follows: 12:30pm -1:30pm: 2nd floor MBRB; Catered lunch from Vimala’s Curryblossom 1:30pm-2:30pm: Student Talks, Alice Stamatakis and Heather Decot both from Stuber Lab, MBRB 2204, 2:45pm-4:15pm, Dr David Lovinger’s talk, 4:15pm-5:15pm, Poster Session, and 5:15pm, Happy Hour.
