The UNC Neuroscience Curriculum presented its second annual Pierre Morell Neuroscience Retreat (PMNR; formerly Pierre Morell Research Day) on Thursday, May 18 to Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Summit in the Haw River State Park. We were pleased to host Dr. Kafui Dzirasa from nearby Duke University as our guest speaker this year. Dr. Dzirasa is an assistant professor in the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences. His research uses engineering approaches to investigate circuit changes that can lead to psychiatric diseases and to use this knowledge to improve outcomes for those affected by neurological and psychiatric illness.

We were pleased to have a variety of student, faculty, and postdoctoral speakers from the Neuroscience Center present their exciting research at this year’s retreat. This was also the first year where we combined the End of Year Talks from the entering Neuroscience Curriculum students with PMNR. Thanks to all of the participants and speakers for attending and we hope to see you all next year!
