Dr. Cepko is a Professor of Genetics and Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Her Laboratory is interested in several topics: (1) mechanisms that direct development of the central nervous system (CNS) of vertebrates, with a focus on the retina, (2) gene therapy to prolong vision in inherited forms of blindness, and (3) use of viruses as transsynaptic tracers. The seminar will cover recent developments in the use of VSV as a transsynaptic tracer and novel methods to use GFP as a regulator of biological activities.
