Dr. Grandl is an Assistant Professor in Neurobiology at the Duke School of Medicine. His research on somatosensation aims to understand the detailed mechanisms of ion channel activation by mechanical touch, temperature and chemicals. He feels that this knowledge is fundamental for a complete understanding of somatosensation and nociception and the development of analgesic drugs. Dr. Grandl's host is Dr. Mark Zylka.

The title of his seminar will be:

"Mechanisms of Ion Channels Sensing Temperatures, Touch and Pain"
