I graduated from Hokkaido University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. I am a board-certified DVM in Japan. In 2006, I obtained my PhD in physiology from the University of California, Los Angeles where I studied the genetic basis of song learning in zebra finches in the laboratory of Dr. Stephanie White. I then moved to the UK to study competitive synaptic elimination in rat cerebellum during development as a postdoctoral fellow at University College London with Dr. Michael Häusser.
The current research interest that I am pursuing in the laboratory of Dr. Spencer Smith, is to understand the cellular, subcellular and molecular underpinnings of synaptic integration in mouse visual cortex.
