Kristin Sellers




I graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 2011 with a BS with honors in Human Development and a minor in Nutrition and Health. My initial research in neurobiology utilized fMRI to study emotion regulation and the effects of lifetime trauma. Upon coming to UNC, I transitioned into measuring and manipulating cortical network dynamics using electrophysiology and transcranial current stimulation.


My work in the Frohlich Lab focuses on understanding cortical network dynamics during sensory processing and cognition. My previous work utilized multichannel electrophysiology in awake and anesthetized animals during resting state and sensory stimulation to examine the interaction of cortical state and afferent sensory input to guide network dynamics. I am currently investigating the neural correlates of attention in prefrontal and posterior parietal cortices using high-density electrophysiology in behaving animals. In a related line of research, I utilize transcranial current stimulation in humans with simultaneous EEG to investigate alteration to cortical activity through the application of weak electric current.
