Brain Surgery Doesn't Deter High School Pitcher

March 29, 2011 -- Craig Mitchell was told his baseball season was canceled when he underwent a 19-hour surgery for an acoustic neuroma last December.

Less than three months later, the senior from Fuquay-Varina High School was back on the mound, where he contributed to a 9-3 victory.  He had faith that his surgeons, Matthew Ewend, MD, and Craig Buchman, MD, "could get the job done."
