Novel Approach to Treating Aneurysm

January 23, 2011 -- Drs. Anand Germanwala and Adam Zanation will be featured in the March issue of "Neurosurgery" for their pioneering approach, two years ago, to clip an aneurysm.

Their patient is believed to be the only subject to have undergone this procedure through the nasal passages.  Standard treatment involves open brain surgery, in which the skull cap is removed and brain dislodged to expose the aneurysm.

The story has been covered by multiple news outlets, including UNC Health Care News, The Daily Tar Heel and WRAL.
