Bhowmick Slated for Faculty Appointment

January 27, 2012 -- UNC is pleased to welcome Dr. Bhowmick as an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and member of the UNC Spine Center.

Bhowmick Slated for Faculty Appointment

Dr. Bhowmick is currently completing his spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic with an expected completion date of July 2012.  He completed his neurosurgery residency in June 2011 at the University of Pennsylvania.  During his residency, Dr. Bhowmick completed a one-year spine research fellowship at the NIH which was sponsored by the CNS and Medtronic.

Dr. Bhowmick was awarded his MD in 2004 at Baylor College of Medicine and received his B.A. in Biochemistry, magna cum laude, in 1999 at Rice University.

Dr. Bhowmick’s interests include a wide variety of spine neurosurgery including minimally invasive spine techniques, spinal oncology, and spinal radiosurgery. He is also interested in clinical and translational research as well as teaching residents.
