Dr. Jing Wu, Co-Director of the UNC Brain Tumor Program, delivered a presentation on Malignant Glioma.  She discussed the current standard of care for glioblastoma, reviewed the advances in the field of Neuro-Oncology, and outlined the clinical trial portfolio of the UNC Neuro-Oncology program.  Dr. Wu also gave an overview of her role within UNC Cancer Care and the ways in which UNC Cancer Care hoped to support the services provided at Leo Jenkins Cancer Care Center.

Dr. Wu delivered an overview detailing the incidence of brain tumors and the comparison to rates found in other forms of cancer.  She illustrated the ways in which surgical management & radiation therapy treatment are used collaboratively to treat various types of tumors.  Dr. Wu shared new study information and treatment results for patients with specific predictive markers and their response to specific treatment methods.

The multiple clinical trials ongoing and available at UNCHC were discussed and offered to patients treated by ECU Oncology providers.
