  • Pinehurst's Dr. Carson Performs Surgery at Chapel Hill: Larry V. Carson is one of our UNC Faculty Neurosurgeons based at Pinehurst.  Dr. Carson performed his first case at the UNC Medical Center this week with Dr. Peter Steenland.  Dr. Carson is the only surgeon in the US boarded in both Neurosurgey and Plastic Surgery, so he is uniquely qualified to remove a lipoma which sat over the brachial plexus.  Given Dr. Carson's interest in peripheral nerve surgery, we hope to see more of him in Chapel Hill.

Jigsaw Puzzle-Match 2013

  • Successful 2nd Week of Resident Applicant Interviews: The Department of Neurosurgery had a second terrific group of resident candidates this week.  Our hats are off to the administrative team including Smyrna Robinson and Felicia Sawyer for running a total of 25 highly qualified candidates through in two days of interviews.  Dr. Matt Ewend, Department Chair, said, "The efficiency with which the process runs speaks well of the program.  I also think the quality of the residents and faculty speaks well of the program."  Our last week of interviews for Match 2013 will take place during the first week of December.
