The Plus People Awards were established to recognize people who consistently excel at their jobs and who demonstrate an enthusiasm and devotion to duty that inspires others. It is a tribute to the positive attitude, the high quality of work and the concern for all of the people served.

Her nomination lauded Dr. Orning for her exceptional patient-centered medical care, service to the people of UNC Hospitals and the local community, and participation in research focused on improving outcomes from subdural hematomas.
