January 13, 2013 -- Dr. Scott Elton Officially Joins Neurosurgery Team as of January 1; Neurosurgery Receives Excellent Evaluation:

Dr. Scott Elton Officially Joins Neurosurgery Team as of January 1: Dr. Elton has already done OR cases, held clinic, and is meeting his new colleagues. Dr. Elton gave an excellent presentation on “Surgical Technique of Myelomeningocele Closure” at this week’s Anesthesia Grand Rounds. It was a special Grand Rounds devoted to MM repair in-utero and it was done in conjunction with the Anesthesia and OB-GYN departments. The conference got a huge turnout with standing room only. It was a terrific introduction of Scott to UNC.

Neurosurgery Receives Excellent Evaluation: The Neurosurgery team received an excellent evaluation from the Block 2 MSIII student rotation. Some of the comments are:
- Despite being a busy service, the residents are excellent and willing teachers and the attendings are also very welcoming of students.
- Each resident having a presentation prepared for us.
- Each resident and attending that I worked with was extremely helpful and eager to provide advice or teaching.
- The residents and attending were extremely excited about what they do every day. I always felt like a valuable member of the team. The learning environment on this rotation was one of the best I have had so far. I always felt comfortable asking questions and was constantly receiving formative feedback. I feel like my presentation skills improved greatly during the short time I spent with this team.
- Neurosurgery was a good rotation in that the residents were kind and good about taking the time to teach in the OR and in the ICU. Expectations were clearly outlined from the beginning and feedback was given throughout. I would recommend this rotation to other students.
