Dr. Carson received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia in Athens.  He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he completed an internship in surgery and residencies in neurological surgery and plastic surgery.  He received the prestigious Van Wagenen Fellowship from the AANS and the CNS Resident Research Award.

Dr. Carson is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Surgery, and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.
