Moe R. Lim, MD

moe lim photo.jpgDr. Lim graduated at the top 10% of his class from Harvard College and attended Harvard Medical School. He trained in orthopaedic and spinal surgery at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery and the Rothman Institute.

Since coming to UNC in 2005, Dr. Lim has successfully helped thousands of patients ease their pain and improve their function. Dr. Lim performs spinal surgery using modern advanced techniques including minimally invasive surgery, microsurgical decompression, complex spinal instrumentation, and non-fusion motion-sparing alternatives. He has a special interest in disorders of the cervical spine, including cervical disc herniations, cervical stenosis, cervical radiculopathy, and cervical myelopathy. The majority of Dr. Lim’s elective surgical practice is devoted to the cervical spine.

Dr. Lim has been involved in research at the Harvard Biological Laboratories, Harvard-Thorndike Laboratories, and the Orthopaedic Research Laboratory at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Currently, as an Asst. Professor at the UNC School of Medicine, he also teaches medical students, trains resident orthopaedic surgeons, and is involved in research. He has co-authored 40 journal articles, 20 book chapters, and two books. He has presented his research nationally and internationally.

Dr. Lim grew up in Massachusetts and is an avid Patriots and Celtics fan. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Sora, and their four sons, Alex, Andrew, Henry, and Holden.
