Core competencies for medical students and graduate medical education

UNC School of Medicine Core Competencies

UNC School of Medicine has established a set of Core Competencies for all medical students, with specific competencies designated for Year 3 of Medical Education.  These are adapted from the AAMC and ACGME and serve as the basis for the whole medical school curriculum.  All of the clerkship objectives can be linked to one of these competencies.

ACGME Competencies

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) has developed a set of competencies to use as guidelines for evaluation of resident performance.  These are important skills to start developing as a medical student.  All of the clerkship objectives can be linked to one of these competencies.
