Services for Children

As a part of our funding, we are required to ensure that each pregnant woman who seeks or is referred for and would benefit from substance use disorder services is given preference in admission to our program. We also are required to give preference to treatment as follows:

  • Pregnant women injecting substances
  • Pregnant women with a substance use disorder
  • Individuals injecting substances
  • All others meeting our admission criteria

The well being of the infants and children of participating mothers is a special focus for Horizons.

Services for our residential children include:

  • Participation in our therapeutic, licensed 5-Star childcare center
  • Screenings and evaluations (medical, speech and language, occupational, developmental, psychological) for all children in the residential programs and our licensed childcare center
  • On-site speech and language or OT/PT services for children in the childcare center or the residence
  • Residential children can receive individual and group counseling as well as after-school activities
  • Residential families can participate in weekend recreational activities like going to the zoo, museums or movies
