Associate Professor, General Obstetrics and Gynecology


Dr. Cristina 'Cris' Munoz received her Bachelor of Arts from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, her M.S. in Health and Medical Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, and her M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco.

She complted her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and was on faculty at Baylor and at Duke. In 1999 she was hired as the first member of the Women's Primary Healthcare Division (now called General Obstetrics and Gynecology.)

Research interests:

  • Surgical teaching, including training in traditional and minimally invasive hysterectomy.
  • Long term drug delivery methods for contraception and menopause.
  • Medical device development, including surgical instruments and new methods for cervical cancer screening.
  • Decision-making and noncontraceptive benefits of family planning methods.
  • Access to obstetric care for underserved populations.
