UNC Pelvic Pain Research Unit
Mission and Purpose:To investigate the etiologies and symptomatic manifestations of gynecological chronic and persistent pain conditions in order to advance the knowledge base of women’s wellness. Moreover, our mission is to equip women, their partners, and heath-care providers with the educational resources to better diagnose, treat, and prevent chronic pain.
Who we are:The UNC Pelvic Pain Research Unit is a part of the Division of Advanced Laparoscopy & Pelvic Pain with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UNC School of Medicine. We are conducting foundation-level research focused on finding better ways to treat patients with pelvic pain and improve their quality of life. Our Research:We currently are conducting research on such disorders as Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome (VVS) and endometriosis.
