Mitchell Creinin, MD is a Professor and Director of Family Planning in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Creinin completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed two fellowships at the University of California, San Francisco: a Family Planning fellowship from the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences and a Clinical Research Fellowship from the Departments of Medicine and Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Creinin spent 17 years at the University of Pittsburgh before taking a position as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis from 2011 to 2014.
Dr. Creinin has received research funding from the NIH, USAID, WHO, CDC, private foundations and industry. He is a well-respected author of more than 200 peer-review papers, review articles, book chapters and books related to Family Planning and Contraception. Dr. Creinin is a founding member of the Society of Family Planning, the academic society for Family Planning specialists and served on the Executive Board from 2004-2011, including being Society President from 2007-2009. Dr. Creinin is currently a Deputy Editor for Contraception.
