There was an MFMU trial presented at SMFM last week that may change routine Ob practice and will certainly impact work flow on our busy L and D unit.  The study was induction of nullips at 39 weeks versus expectant management.  They demonstrated a lower cesarean rate in those undergoing induction.

The Ob leadership believes this is worth thoughtful review and discussion, including faculty, residents and L and D nurses.  Kim Boggess (local PI) has agreed to take us through study findings.

Outcome of the session would be:

1)      Provider knowledge about the specifics of the study results

2)      Some consensus about how we will counsel our patients (we call share coverage, so need some agreement)

3)      Outline any logistical issues that will need to be addressed by the L and D management team.
