   "Cervical Cancer Prevention in Malawi: Results of a Community-based Cervical Cancer Screening Pilot Project"

Lameck Chinula completed medical school at the University of Malawi College of Medicine and his OB-GYN residency at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is currently a research assistant professor in the UNC Department of OB-GYN’s Division of Global Women’s Health and based full-time at UNC Project-Malawi in Lilongwe, where he is the Malawi Clinical Research Site Leader. He is also site principal investigator for the IMPAACT 2001 study, protocol co-chair for the IMPAACT 2010 study, UNC Project principal investigator for the AIDS Malignancy Consortium, an honorary lecturer at the Malawi College of Medicine, and a practicing member of Department of OB-GYN at Kamuzu Central Hospital.

His research interests are in the prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV, and cervical cancer prevention and treatment. His presentation will be focused on cervical cancer prevention in Malawi and results from an NIH-funded community-based cervical cancer screening pilot project that he recently completed.
