Honors & Awards
Dr. Victoria Bae-Jump received the James W. Wood Junior Faculty Award.
Dr. Ursula Balthazar was the recipient of the Bowes Cefalo Young Researcher Award for her research on "Periconceptional Changes in Thyroid Function". Along with the award, she will receive $2,500 for her research.
Dr. Amy Bryant received 2 grants for her study in Malawi A pilot study of a randomized trial comparing two different time frames for Copper T380A intrauterine contraception insertion; immediately postpartum compared to 4-6 weeks postpartum in Lilongwe, Malawi
- $70,000 from an anonymous foundation
- $10,000 for UNC Center for AIDS Research
Grants cover the research project and two IUD training sessions conducted by Dr Bryant, Dr Stuart and Malawi colleagues who are also helping with the study. The training sessions will be attended by clinicians in the labor ward and the family planning clinics. Attendees will learn how to place IUDs during the immediate postpartum period, and during the interval period.
Dr. Alice Chuang was selected as an Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. AnnaMarie Connolly, named as Chair of the American Urogynecologic Society Education Committee.
