I think I daily have an experience that the fellowship prepared me for. Because of the flexibility of the fellowship, I was able to obtain my MPH in Policy and Administration. So in addition to getting wonderful research mentorship, I also received some incredibly useful training in health policy as well as developed skills I use each day as to help run our organization. I also made connections through TECT that have helped me even after I moved here to Florida.
Through TECT I had access to mentors both at UNC and Duke, the collaborative environment between the two educational institutions is unique and helps you see academics at its best.
Our mentors were a key to being successful in the program and also to having a lot of fun in the process. They are really what makes the TECT fellowship the amazing opportunity and experience that it is. This may sound cheesy, but I truly think being a part of the TECT fellowship was a life-changing experience. I gained skills and confidence I never had before the fellowship. I am very much inspired by them to this day.
